In October 2011 we launched the first phase of our new brand campaign titled Bronx Woman. You may have seen our little pieces of beauty in several fashion mags like True Love, Glamour, Elle and Cosmopolitan.

We were so excited about introducing the concept of Bronx Woman that we’ve taken it to a whole new level.  Why? Because we’re all Bronx women. You, me, and any woman who gets up every morning, inspired to be true to herself and who seeks to be fabulous both inside and out. (Can I hear a girly hoo-ha!)
For us, the Bronx woman has really become an icon of beauty, with a tenacious attitude, a gleaming confidence and a real appreciation for life’s splendour. And these are the same women who wear our shoes (see the link?).  It’s the same reason that the female symbol is in our logo – because our shoes represent every part of what makes a woman. And it’s something we’re really proud of.
Chances are that you see yourself like this – like a real woman, a Bronx Woman. And with that I’m going to give you some exclusive insider information; we’ve been hard at work at creating a new platform for Bronx women to gather. Our new website, aptly called Bronx Woman, will be the new home of the Bronx Woman shoe brand – where we’ll get to divulge all our delectable shoe-loving goodness with you…starting with the launch of our fabulous 2012 winter range of shoes.
The new website will be going live soon (we’ll keep you posted with any new developments), and Bronx Woman will continue to be part of the conversation on Facebook under the Bronx Woman name.  Here, you can also tell us how you feel about the new campaign- we’d love to hear your feedback!
You’re no longer a Bronx lady, you’re a Bronx Woman. Consider it an upgrade

Addict alert!

It’s official. They have a name for it, and it’s called Shoe Obsession Disorder.
In her article, Shoe Obsession Disorder Kathy Gibson explains the issue of women and shoe addiction: ‘contrary to popular belief, Cinderella’s stepsisters were not desperate for Prince Charming – they were desperate for her glass slipper.Unlike shopping for jeans (which is about as much fun as going to the gynaecologist), shopping for shoes is an exhilarating experience. Feet don’t have hips, feet don’t have thighs. Feet are our friends’.

It really is no wonder that a Shoe Obsession Disorder is alive and flourishing.  Although, in my honest opinion, calling it a disorder may be taking it one step too far (even a little bit insulting for a more aptly labelled shoe lover.).  But on the bright side, if you’re going to have an addiction…it may as well be to shoes.
For many, the business of owning shoes is quite literally all consuming.  There have been some serious addicts in the recent past, one of the most famous being Imelda Marcos, the former First Lady of the Philippines. While much of the population of her country live in poverty, she owned a shoe collection of around 3000 pairs! (A museum has even been opened to display them – talk about your cupboard being too small!).  But first prize must go to the author Danielle Steele, who is rumoured to own over 6000 pairs of shoes (gasp!). And while she may have sold over 600 million books, her shoe collection alone is worth in the region of £2 million! Reports say that it’s not unusual for her to walk out of a Louboutin store with an excess of 80 pairs – just grasping this thought alone blows my mind.
An American shoe study recently estimated that women own an average of 19 pairs of shoes each. It’s nothing on Danielle Steele, but it is still a considerable amount of space in your cupboard. Have you combed through your wardrobe and counted your collection? How many do you own and do you wear them all? And what about those that you don’t wear – have you thought about donating them to charity and helping out those who have no shoes at all?
And I don’t know about you, but when I saw the exclusive sneak peek of the new Bronx Woman winter range, I felt the little bug of shoe addiction biting…

Hello Libby!

The super-platform is making a marvellous comeback. And the result? Instant va-va-voom. That is the simplest way to describe the effect of Libby. Our advice is to wear these beauties throughout the day and into the night – they’re so gorgeous you may not want to take them off!

Why you’ll love her:  This shoe is a show-stopper, there’s no doubting that! And you may be feeling a little down in this post-holiday period, but Libby has an instant way to fix that! Show off your sun kissed legs in a micro-skirt or short shorts (a la Kourtney Kardashian) or pair with a loose sleeved shirt for a more casual vibe.  Available in red and nude patent colour ways. Get them while they’re hot!
Why we love her:  A good cork platform seems to be all the rage this summer – and we think Libby makes a perfect impression. Comfortable, bold and adventurous is all part of the deal!

We know that the sun is still out and shining (although our tans are fading faster than Rebecca Black), but at the back of our minds we know that the best of summer may already be behind us. We’ve already had the longest day (a shocking and sad reality).  So we thought it might be a good idea to bring you a little teaser for winter – giving you enough time to think about how well these little winter gems will fit into your winter wardrobe. We’re incredibly excited for you to see these beautiful Bronx Woman shoes out there on shelves sooner than you think! We know that you’ll love them as much as we do! Enjoy the little teaser!

Back to work. Back to reality.

You’ve spent the last 3 weeks on an exotic, private island, being attended to by shirtless male models wielding big palm leaves and not much else. You’ve frolicked in the sea, relaxed your weary body and you’ve returned safely home with the knowledge that you may have the finest tan on this side of the hemisphere. But dreams don’t last forever, and you have to return to the realities of work/studies/life that face us in this ‘post-holiday’ period. (But it’s not so bad, because you get to show off your ridiculously good-looking tan).

Whether you’re making good impressions at a new job, if you’re strutting your stuff at your first job, or re-acquainting yourself with old colleagues at the water cooler – you sure want to look fabulous while doing it. But regardless of the warm temperatures and casual feel of the season, the important thing to remember is that you’ve left the island, and now, you’re at work. This not the beach and it’s not the weekend. InStyle fashion director Hal Rubenstein says, “The reality is that you don’t work outside, and you should dress as if you’re going to run into your boss in the elevator.”

Follow these summer work wear guidelines for an inspired start to the new working year!

Follow the Leader

Levels of formality vary by geography, industry and corporate culture. The best guide for what to wear is to imitate the execs, managers and authority figures at work. Sometimes being the sheep can save you from an embarrassingly inappropriate wardrobe faux pas.

Be Polished

A relaxed dress code doesn’t mean you can be a slob. You don’t want to be that girl. Make sure your clothes are clean and pressed, and your nails are nicely painted.  Trust me, making big impressions is all in the detail.

Don’t Flash the Flesh.

You have a tan. You want to show it off.  You naturally reach for the short, strappy number hanging in your wardrobe. Put it back.  Women in all professions should know they’re not advancing their careers when they wear revealing clothing.  Simple rule: Don’t wear anything Britney Spears would be proud of.

Layer Light Fabrics.

Stay cool in lightweight materials such as silk, cotton, linen, or summer-weight wool and cotton blends. And remember to dress in layers.  Simple, easy and breezy. You’ll make instant friends around the water cooler.

Have a Cover-Up Ready.

For those days when you think your building is melting and the air-conditioning is about to platz, you may need to bend the rules a little. But always keep a lightweight neutral blazer at the office so you can slip it on in case the big boss or an important client decides to drop by.

Here’s to 2012.

Ahhh, hear that? That is the sound the well-intentioned New Year’s resolution. Depending on how you felt on the first day of the year, resolutions normally encompass the dampening of overindulgence or acting on that small urge to be more active. Lists of New Year’s resolutions can remind us of Larry King – they look exactly the same year after year after year. Those perennial, exhausted favourites — losing weight, getting organized, saving money — are much like political campaign promises- all talk and not much action!

Either way, they require a good reflection on the past year – the state of your body, the state of your mind, your spirit and perhaps even your wardrobe.  All things considered, New Year’s resolutions intend to right a situation that may have gone a little wry over the last few months (the big word here being intend). If you’re also a bit sick of the good-old Larry King like resolutions, here’s a list of really worthwhile pledges to make for 2012. Let’s remember it as the year we made glorious changes to our lives!

Resolve to improve your posture: No one wants to end up as the hunchback. Enough said.

Resolve to go on a month-long shopping hiatus: One month, people, just one month. You’ll not only save money but you’ll also see the holes in your wardrobe that you need to (not want to) fill. Plus, we all love challenges.

Resolve to toss out old cosmetics: Yes, you know better, but seriously, how old is that mascara in your makeup bag? Tisk tisk.

Adopt a skincare regimen – and stick to it. You’ve been meaning to do this since the day you turned thirteen, but seriously, there’s no better time than now. You’ll thank me one day.

Take more fashion risks. You know what they say: life begins just outside your comfort zone. Put yourself out there and indulge in trends like leopard prints, wedges, sparkles and bright lips. Put yourself where the magic happens- you can do it.

Switch up your hairstyle.  Change is as good as a holiday – a good snip, a crazy new colour, or something that’ll scare you a little and voila, you’re a new person!

Continue to expand your fashion bomb:  Work on bringing out that inner fashionista. You’ll love yourself for it.

Here’s to a magical 2012, and to resolutions that we really want to stick to.
